So the journey begins,
Within the past few years, so many changes has taken place. To look back in such a short amount of time and be a witness to its time is heartfelt.
There’s a saying in Vietnamese that goes like this, “Man’s plan cannot be compared to god’s plan.” Truly, no matter how well I have my life laid out, life seems to always have the last say and bend any rules that’s been fantomed. When reflecting upon these moments, i find my self looking through a foggy glass. With such vision, regardless of what I see and imagine, it will not be matched with what’s behind the fog.
It wasn’t until in my late 20’s that I began to realize the more I attempt and want something in life, the less likely it will come. Upon reaching desperation, frusturation follows suit, and then at last comes contemplation. On the other end, when I did not try, life seemed to flow effortlessly. I imagine life as a river, and upon trying to do things in life, and plan things out the way I’d like life to happen, is as if I were to go against the stream of life. That’s not to say, not plan nor strive for goals in life, but rather, plan and strive through awareness of the streams in life. Let’s elaborate further,
Suppose life takes its first form through raindrops, and upon finding contact on earth, it will collectively gather and take residence. Then life begin to flow according to the direction of the gravitational pull and its environment being obstacles in life. As life flows, independent desires begins to rise and wants to take on its own form. With such desires and reach in life is to say a water droplet wants to create a lake in a desired location, or a pond in a tranquil place.
Now let’s create a plan on how such desire is ought to be followed, everything is all planned out. Animals is going to help create a path so water can run to such place. Certain trees are going to grow in such place and going to attract such animals, so on and so forth. Then comes the motion of life whether the animals wants to do such things, or whether the specific trees and animals wants to come to such place. It’s one battle to plan and have goals, but more importantly, accept that one is in motion with life it self. A plan and a goal is a direction of which the arrow flies in, what lies in between is entirely in the hands of the universe.
In other words, plan is the direction, goal is the destination, life is the journey in between. Trying to play out life exactly to ones desire is out of ones control. Only the action of one is under control, and what ripples it creates and who it affects is out of reach. However, there is a hidden effect of this which is, to aim our actions towards the direction of where one want’s to go. As a result, the ripples are bound to effect within reach, but not exactly. Hence why being adaptable and open to changes along the journey is so crucial.
To have a set mind and inability to change is an attempt to throw rocks in a pond and attempt to throw exactly in one specific location, time and the exact environmental condition. These circumstances are beyond one’s control and pose a greater difficulty in one’s journey.
